Meklit Abera
Lead - MK Campus Ministry at GSU
My name is Meklit Abera. Serving in the Mahbere Kidusan Campus Ministry at Georgia State University for the past three years has been one of the most spiritually transformative experiences of my life. Growing up in Ethiopia, I had always heard about Gibi Gubae and the strong unity among college believers. I dreamt of one day being part of that same purpose-driven fellowship and by God’s grace, I didn’t just witness it, I was given the opportunity to serve in it. During my time in the ministry, I’ve been blessed to contribute through event planning, designing flyers, creating content, and capturing moments that glorify God. But more than the work itself, what shaped me most was the fellowship being surrounded by young people who truly seek God and encourage one another in faith. That kind of spiritual connection is rare and deeply meaningful, especially in a world that constantly pulls us in the opposite direction. Today, I am honored to serve as co-chairman of the 7th Annual Campus Ministry General Assembly. It fills my heart with joy to see students from diverse backgrounds gather not for worldly things, but to glorify God in worship, learning, and prayer. In a time when youth often come together for what fades, it is powerful to witness a generation come together for what is eternal. This assembly is a space where the Holy Spirit moves, heals, and awakens a deeper hunger for truth. Mahbere Kidusan is more than a student ministry, it is a mission that teaches, uplifts, and calls us higher. It’s shown me that service isn’t about tasks alone; it’s about surrendering your heart to be used by God. I’ve grown spiritually, been humbled by others' stories, and reminded that we all have different paths but one destination: to be with Christ. And through it all, I’ve learned that true service is not just what we do, it's who we become.
