George Washington University Community

The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) is canonical and indissoluble, representing the union of Christ and the Church. The central rite is the Crowning (aklil), signifying a perpetual, sacred commitment focused on spiritual perfection and shared life.

Welcome to the George Washington University Mahibere Kidusan Ethiopian Orthodox Campus Ministry Club

Over the past year, we’ve established a strong and active foundation rooted in our Orthodox Christian faith—growing together through weekly spiritual classes, prayer meetings, Bible study sessions, and uplifting fellowship. These gatherings have deepened our understanding of Scripture, strengthened our connection with God, and fostered meaningful relationships among students. We are now prepared to take the next step forward by significantly expanding our ministry efforts. This means organizing more community events, launching new charity outreach projects, hosting distinguished guest speakers, planning spiritual retreats, and engaging in collaborative service opportunities that allow us to live out our faith both on and off campus. Our aim is to not only nourish our spiritual growth but also to shine the light of Christ in the GW community.

Weekly Prayer & Classes

We meet regularly for prayer and classes where we dive deep into scripture, faith discussions, and personal growth. Whether you’re a seasoned believer or new to the faith, these structured sessions offer something valuable for everyone seeking to understand the Ethiopian Orthodox tradition.

Upcoming Fellowship Events

After a year focused on core study, we are now expanding into diverse fellowship events that include group outings, cultural celebrations, and social gatherings. These events provide opportunities to connect with one another, build lasting relationships, and strengthen the bonds within our community.

Outreach & Service Projects

God willing, we will soon be hosting expanded service opportunities that allow us to reach out and help those in need. Whether it's volunteering at local charities, organizing campus events, or participating in global initiatives, your contribution will help make a tangible difference in the community.
