Name
The association was named Mahibre Kidusan (an association in the name of Saints). Saints are venerated and commemorated because they abandoned the secular world and sacrificed their lives in the Orthodox faith, whose foundation is the teaching of the prophets and the apostles.
History
In 1977 EC (Ethiopian Calendar) few higher education students inspired the youth on the college campuses to become members of Sunday school and learn the teachings of the Church. This effort was later strengthened by students trained in Ziway Hamere Berehan St. Gebriel Clergy Training Monastery by the then Archbishop of Shewa, Abune Gorgorious II.
The movement continued in the Bilatie military camp that brought students of different higher education institutions 1983 EC. A year later, with the blessing of the Church fathers, the association was formed under the name “Mahibere Kidusan” under the Sunday School Department of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Since then the association has been providing spiritual services in various ways.
Vision
To see the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church strengthened in its spiritual service and economic capacity, the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ spread throughout the world, and the faithful multiplied throughout the world with a strong and firm faith.
MIssion
Using various science and technological innovations for the teaching of the faith, strengthen campus conference students and the faithful in general to preserve the teaching of the Gospel, the Church’s Canons and Traditions; work to strengthen the administrative structure and capacity of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, and strengthen the Church’s apostolic service cognizant of the ever-changing religious, social, economic and political challenges.

- Empower the Church’s Institutional management, operating system, and perception through technology and various means to strengthen its service, redeeming the time.
- Teaching students of higher education institutions with a curriculum to build the full potential of their humanity, prepare and commission servants who redeem the time, embrace orthodoxy, serve in the hierarchy of the church, and actively participate in the social, economic, and political affairs and governance of the country.
- Enhance the role of empowerment of children and the youth by strengthening the capacity of Sunday Schools, which are a source of the succeeding generation.
- Building Orthodox families that exhibit Orthodox spirituality and preserve its unity to execute an organized and cohesive service.
- Expand the gospel and apostolic mission in an organized manner throughout the world through multifaceted means, with a focused and targeted end.
- Preserving the Church through firm apologetics based on the study and research about the false narratives, myths, and tales against the Church, by challenging and correcting these falsehoods.
- Provide support to enhance consciousness so that selected monasteries and Centers of Traditional Spiritual Education can be centers of excellence that are capable of fulfilling the Church’s certain objectives.
- For the association to create institutional and functional procedures, to create the capacity to fulfill its goals (in leadership, manpower, spirituality, communication, knowledge, economic development, finance & technology).
- Enhance the economic, social, and political participation of the Orthodox faithful through the principle of International Public Relations and Cooperative Services.

- Spirituality: It is the incarnation of the True Orthodox Religion, inveterate faith, good endeavors and spiritual knowledge; diligence God’s embodiment and cherishes the return to the Lord through the apostolic fight and a heavenly life; Thus, members are made by conversing and working in Christians endeavors at any state, period and condition. Trailing the path of patristic fathers, they serve humbly, faithfully with the trepidation of God.
- Servanthood: Members of the association serve with the indication of their Christian life, in a good will, seeking heavenly honor and grace, detesting worldly honor and praise vanity, sincerely, faithfully and with Christian love.
- Leadership of Thoughts: The association works in collaboration with leader of church concerned with the sustainability of the Church’s service necessary for the emit of orthodox ideas, with the timely thoughts and leadership.
- Cooperation: The association believes church’s service is the activity of all members of the church. Therefore, it works in accordance with the issue, properly with shareholders and partners with affinity, discussion and sincerity for the unison of the mission, venerating sundry grace in incarnation.
- Veneration of Professions: It gives proper veneration and priority for skillful thoughts that do not contrast with orthodoxy education and are based with real information within any of its activities done by servile utilizing their various skill and knowledge of the association’s members, as they are congregated in serving the church. It also works for the endowment of proper veneration of the spiritual and carnal profession and professionals.
- Rational Orator: The association works for the challenge and resolution of the church’s internal and external obstacles, activities, habitual and histories based on the right data, clear and spiritual firm and truth.
- Accountability: Service of the association goal is embracing heavenly virtue. It therefore makes it accountable before God and the pupil as well, if it does not fulfill its responsibility properly. The manager or member in any of its ladder, is liable for the responsibility given within the work of the association.


Stand
The association does not engage in any political activities and does not have any affiliation to any political parties or movements.
Membership
Members of the association consist of disciples trained in various religious institutions of the church and who are actively serving with the best of their abilities; Students and graduates of higher educational institutions who are also active members of Sunday schools in their respective parishes; The laity who support the objectives of the association with their knowledge, money and labor.
Administrative Structure
Mahiber Kidusan is instituted under the Sunday School department of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. It provides spiritual services through its sub-centers in different dioceses all over the country and in the Diaspora.
