I have been involved in Campus Ministry at George Mason University for one year. Campus Ministry has been a great avenue to grow my faith and build meaningful relationships. The Campus Ministry at Mason has weekly meetings. During our meetings, we have sermons, hymns, and discussions. Our sermons aim to deepen our understanding and appreciation of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. We have received sermons regarding the five pillars of our church and other doctrine of our Church. It is difficult to connect with other people who desire to grow in their faith. As an introverted person, it is even more difficult for me to make these connections. I greatly appreciate the networks I have been able to build while serving in Campus Ministry. Before I started attending Campus Ministry, my academic and personal life were very separate. I have gained friends through Campus Ministry that have made my college experience fruitful. Additionally, I have served on the executive board of Mason’s Campus Ministry. Through this role, I was able to plan discussion questions, prepare our meeting room, and plan events. The most notable event from Mason’s Campus Ministry was our Last Supper event. We organized a special program for the Last Supper consisting of foot washing, begena hymn, and sermon. Both planning and participating in Campus Ministry events play an immense role in my spiritual growth. Above all else, our Campus Ministry leaders have been crucial in instilling the desire for a life of repentance in us. I have received many books and lessons about repentance. I was also fortunate enough to be connected to a confession father. This has done wonders in assisting me to grow closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
