About Campus Ministry
Name
The association was named Mahibre Kidusan (an association in the name of Saints). Saints are venerated and commemorated because they abandoned the secular world and sacrificed their lives in the Orthodox faith, whose foundation is the teaching of the prophets and the apostles.
History
In 1977 EC (Ethiopian Calendar) some higher education students inspired the youth on college campuses to become members of Sunday school and learn the teachings of the Church. This effort was later strengthened by students trained in Ziway Hamere Berehan St. Gabriel
Clergy Training Monastery by the then Archbishop of Shewa, Abune Gorgorious II.
The movement continued in the Bilatie military camp which brought together students of different higher education institutions 1983 EC. A year later, with the blessing of the Church fathers, the association was formed under the name “Mahibere Kidusan” under the Sunday School Department of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. Since then the association has been providing spiritual services in various ways.
